MORE Aircrete Bricks

It seems like we get better at making bricks each time! This time around we worked much faster, and it took about 3 batches to fill both forms (almost). These were much more consistent and solid.

A few things we’ve learned so far:

  • Cleaning the forms takes FOREVER. To save yourself time, make sure that they are fully coated in oil.

  • We originally started spraying the forms with aerosol cans of oil, but felt they didn’t cover the surface thouroughly. So, we got some cheap spray bottles and a bulk bottle of vegetable oil. That seemed to work better and helped shorten the clean up time for the forms

  • When cleaning the forms, depending on how dry the aircrete is, using a power washer works best. We also manage to clean up pretty well with a broom and sponge for the tough spots.

All that being said, we plan to make some additional forms in the future. These will just be large rectangles that we will cut into bricks after the fact. We are figuring we need about 4,000 bricks to accomplish the build we are planning for. These extra forms will help us to crank out more bricks much faster(and hopefully save time in cleaning up).
