Dome Home Underground Piping
For anyone new here, we are a family in Ohio building our own dome home. This step in the process was digging and placing underground piping for our future house.
With our layout in hand and lines sprayed painted onto the ground, we started to dig. Looking back now, we should’ve probably been a bit more precise with some of the pipe placement, but since this Dome Home is entirely DIY, we are just adjusting as we go. (Would not suggest doing this to anyone that is more Type A)
The first order of business was digging near our established well (VERY CAREFULLY) to disconnect previous pipe and replace it with our own.
Once the back hoe did the larger part of the job, we dug by hand with shovels.
Wish we had found something cooler like buried treasure, but we did bust this old pressure tank. Had we known it was down there, we probably could’ve used it. Unfortunately we crushed it with the hoe. Oops!
All of the piping we did in this round was connecting the well to where the water will come in to the house, two exterior hydrants on either side of the house, and electrical conduit un into the utility dome.
Kirby (the pup) is almost always around and keeping everyone in line.
One day our kids will see these pictures and hopefully appreciate all the hard work it took to build their home.
Pops and little brother making sure that the pipe is level before we start to burry them.
Once we had everything in and connected, we used a skid loader to push the dirt around and cover everything up.
